Youth Faith Formation
Youth faith formation within St John the Baptist is a program designed to help young people grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith, build a personal relationship with God, and develop moral and spiritual values that guide their lives. Through religious education classes, retreats, service opportunities, and activities, youth are taught about Scripture, the sacraments, Church teachings, and the importance of prayer and community. The program encourages young people to live out their faith
in practical ways and prepares them to make informed and meaningful decisions as they navigate life’s challenges. Youth faith formation also fosters a sense of belonging within the parish community, nurturing the next generation of disciples.
Sacrament Preparation
Sacrament preparation within a Catholic parish is a process through which individuals, typically children or adults, are guided in their understanding and readiness to receive one or more of the sacraments, such as Baptism, First Communion, or Confirmation. This preparation involves catechesis, where candidates learn about the significance of the sacrament, its role in their spiritual journey, and how to live out the graces received. For children, this often includes family involvement, regular classes, and activities that help deepen their faith. For adults, sacrament preparation may include more intensive study, reflection, and discussions. The goal is to ensure that candidates approach the sacrament with reverence, understanding, and a desire to grow closer to God and His Church.
