Our Values

At St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, every ministry and volunteer plays a vital role in welcoming all people into the presence of Christ and ensuring that each parishioner experiences a reverent, holy, and joyful encounter with God at Mass. Our ministries operate with the following core values

Radical Hospitality

“Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15:7)

  • Every volunteer is an ambassador of Christ’s love, making all feel seen and valued.
  • Greet every person with warmth, kindness, and a genuine spirit of welcome.
  • Offer helpful guidance to new parishioners and visitors.
  • Be attentive and present—no one should feel like a stranger in their own parish.

Reverence & Holiness

“Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” (Psalm 33:8)

  • Maintain an atmosphere of sacredness within the church proper—speak softly, move with intention, and dress appropriately.
  • Approach all liturgical roles with prayerful preparation and dignity.
  • Encourage deep participation in the Mass—actively listen, sing, and pray.
  • Support a prayerful environment before and after Mass, recognizing the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Joyful Service

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.” (John 12:26)

  • View ministry as a calling, not just a task—serve with enthusiasm and dedication.
  • Work collaboratively and humbly with fellow volunteers, priests, and parishioners.
  • Be solutions-focused—when challenges arise, respond with grace and a positive spirit.
  • Offer your time and talents as an act of love and worship to God.

Commitment to Growth

“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)

Evangelization & Invitation

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

  • See every interaction as an opportunity to invite friends, family, and neighbors to encounter Christ.
  • Personally invite others to Mass, parish events, faith formation, sacraments, and small groups, making them feel welcome in our faith community.
  • Be an example of Christian joy and love, inspiring those around you to grow in faith
  • Accompany those who are searching, offering encouragement and support as they take steps toward Christ.

Living out these Values

Every ministry volunteer—whether a greeter, lector, altar server, musician, catechist, home-bound minister, faith family fun team, or behind-the-scenes helper—shapes the spiritual experience of our parish. By embracing these values, we ensure that St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is not just a place people attend, but a spiritual home where they encounter Christ in a profound way.
